Saturday 11 August 2012: Happy Mechanic
I was lacking for a photo today (no run during which to take a photo >_< ), so turned my camera on the kids. Mstr 5 here was repairing the (very good) car he built yesterday with sticklebricks. He looked up and gave me a few super-cheesey grins, but mrs tsuken and I preferred this shot.
Large here.
Resting the leg, but went for a gentle kid-chasing bike ride down the local fire trail - which was fun, and I hope useful for my calf.
I read today about Manteo Mitchell, a US 400m runner, who in the first heat of the 4x400m relay broke his leg (the fibula; smaller of the two bones in the lower leg) just after 200m in... And. Kept. Running. O_O They qualified for the final too. Absolutely incredible strength and determination.
Watching the 4x100m relay was really impressive as well. I was fascinated by the slow-motion replay of Kemar Bailey-Cole, the final Jamaican runner, as he came down to the finish line. It was as though he was actually flying: his head and body showed almost no vertical motion, and his feet looked as though they barely touched the track. Just amazing to see.
