Competition Rules

• 1. These rules, together with any rules specific to an Unstaged competition as set out at blipfoto.com/unstaged, apply to competitions on the blipfoto.com website. Rules specific to an Unstaged competition are deemed incorporated into these rules and will prevail in the event of any conflict between these rules and the rules specific to that Unstaged competition.
• 2. By entering, entrants will be deemed to have agreed to be bound by these rules, any rules specific to the competition as set out at blipfoto.com/unstaged and Blipfoto's Terms of Use and Contributor Rules. Blipfoto Ltd reserves the right to exclude any entry from the competition at any time and in its absolute discretion if Blipfoto Ltd has reason to believe that an entrant has breached any of the foregoing rules and conditions.
• 3. Entrants must be over 13 years of age. By using blipfoto.com and entering a competition you warrant either that you are aged 18 or over or, if you are under 18, that you are aged 13 or over and if not yet regarded as an adult by the laws of the country in which you are resident that your parent or guardian have agreed to you entering the competition and these rules.
• 4. Although competitions are open to entrants from outside the United Kingdom, persons may not enter if they are resident in a country or jurisdiction where the competition is in breach of applicable law or regulation.
• 5. The prizes specific to each competition are identified in the notice on the blipfoto.com/unstaged web page for each competition, Blipfoto Ltd reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value.
• 6. No purchase is necessary to enter a competition and there is no charge to register to use blipfoto.com.
• 7. All photographs must be taken and uploaded to blipfoto.com after the published start date and before the published closing date, and tagged ‘unstaged’. Entrants should include their name, address, telephone number and age if under 18. Any photographs taken before the start date or uploaded after the closing date are not eligible and will not be included. For the 'Scotland at Play' competition all photographs must be taken in Scotland.
• 8. Each entry must consist of up to 3 images with accompanying text, taken on separate dates. Entries will be retained by Blipfoto and will not be returned.
• 9. Only one entry (consisting of up to 3 images and text) is permitted per person, per competition. Multiple entries will be disqualified. One person may enter each competition.
• 10. All entries must comply with the Blipfoto Contributor Rules and all access to blipfoto.com will be subject to the Blipfoto Terms of Use.
• 11. The competitions are open to everyone, whether professional, amateur or student photographers.
• 12. Employees of Blipfoto Ltd, Channel Four Television, National Theatre of Scotland, Scottish Screen, their immediate families or anyone else associated with the competition are not eligible to enter.
• 13. After the closing date, all entries will be voted on by members of the Blipfoto community and the 10 most popular, in each age category, will be nominated and go forward to the final panel of judges (which will include at least one member independent of Blipfoto Ltd). Winning entries will be those that are judged to be the most creative, artistic, visually appealing and original. The judges' decision will be final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
• 14. In the event of a technical problem or evidence of impropriety with regard to the submission the judges shall have the final and binding decision and no correspondence will be entered into.
• 15. All entries must be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe the rights of any other party. The entrants must be the sole owner of copyright in all photographs and text entered and must have obtained permission of any people featured in the entries or their parents/guardians if children under 16 are featured. Further, entrants must not have breached any laws when taking or submitting their photographs.
• 16. When uploading photographs, all entrants will be asked to declare that the images they are submitting comply with the competition rules and that the information they have provided is true and accurate.
• 17. Prior to submission, entrants must not have offered any of their entries for sale, been paid for any publication of any of their entries or won or been a runner up in any other photographic competition with any of their entries.
• 18. Entrants will retain copyright of the photographs and text that they submit to the competition. By entering the competition all entrants grant Blipfoto Ltd and its licensees the worldwide, irrevocable, perpetual right to store, use, copy, display, publish, transmit, edit, modify, reformat and exhibit all or any part of their photographs and text within Blipfoto, Channel Four Television, National Theatre of Scotland and Scottish Screen websites, publications and all other forms of media (electronic or otherwise). No fees will be payable for any of the above uses. Entrants who are one of the finalists also agree to take part in post competition publicity.
• 19. Blipfoto is not responsible for late, illegible, incomplete, defaced, corrupt, lost or delayed entries, network, internet connection, computer hardware or software failures or errors of any kind. Proof of transmission will not be accepted as proof of receipt. Entries must not be sent through agencies or third parties. Blipfoto regrets that it is unable to accept postal entries.
• 20. Blipfoto Ltd reserves the right to cancel or change this competition or alter any of the rules at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, or if circumstances arise outside of its control.
• 21. Winners will be announced on www.blipfoto.com/unstaged and informed by email within 28 days of the closing date of the competition. Prizes are non-transferable and no cash equivalent will be given. If the winners are unable to be contacted after reasonable attempts have been made Blipfoto Ltd reserves the right to either offer the prize to a runner-up, or to re-offer the prize in any future competition.
• 22. The real name and town of residence of entrants may be published in relation to the applicable competition. Finalists may also be required to take part in publicity.
• 23. These rules (together with the documents referred to on this page) are governed by Scots law and entrants and Blipfoto Ltd agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish Courts. This competition is administered by Blipfoto Ltd, The Matrix, 62-66 Newhaven Road, Edinburgh EH6 5QB.
