I am originally from Edinburgh and I have lived in a number of good places through work.

Despite this, I now live in Bathgate- this mainly being due to working in Glasgow (until recently) and having a partner from West Lothian (it's true what they say about locals getting a nose bleed when they leave the county).

Started following Joe's blip diary in 2005 and I have to say it was an eye opener for me in terms of digital photography. I'm hoping that blipping will improve my own pictures with the discipline of having to take something new every day - I think the big challenge'll be the winter months when it's dark going to work and coming home from work.

My first camera was a Nikon FM2 which I got from B&H photo in NY. I got into it all buying flash guns, extra lenses, tripods etc. but my success ratio was only 1 decent shot in every 3 or 4 rolls or so. Too expensive - plus it seemed like processing quality on the high street was getting poorer and at the time that was all I could afford. Total revelation when I got a surprise birthday present of one of these- which I loved but unfortunately I couldn't find rechargeable batteries that it liked. A convert to digital, I bought a fuji finepix which served me really well for 2 years. I upgraded latterly to a Panasonic Lumix to get better battery life and a Leica lens. Most recently I got hold of a Nikon DSLR which is nice and heavy and traditional-feeling just like my old FM2.

Anyway- enough of my yakking- there's a blip to be got.
