About Sp33dway

I'm a graphic-designing Welsh fella who can't speak much Welsh, living little more than a heftystonesthrow from the Wrexham/Chester border. Apart from snapping the odd photo I fill my non 9-5 life doing a bit of bigbootwalking, peddling my bike over muddy mountains and trying to do all the things a husband of one, father of none should.

'Speedway' is the word written on my favourite t-shirt. I've cemented some fantastic friendships and had some great laughs wearing it. The '33' in my blipname comes from my age at the time of starting this blip back in November 2006.

My first 'proper' camera was a Canon AE1 film SLR, which my parents bought second-hand from a camera shop that now sells tappas. I used this camera whilst at art college and learnt some basic techniques, most of which were darkroom based. Taking photo's was something I forgot to do for a long time but Blip rekindled my interest - which may sound cheesier than a cheesy thing but it's 100 percent true. Up until May 07 most of my shots were snapped with a 3.2 megapixel Minolta compact, a simple point-and-click that was very easy to use but required a lot of post-click fiddling if shooting in anything other than macro mode (hence why a lot of my shots with it were macro ones).

My 'about' pic is the first photo I took with my Nikon D80 dSLR back then. After reaching my milestone of 365 consecutive blips I decided to take a well earned break then reduce my frequency a tad, something I'm glad I did because blip was beginning to take over my life.

So now I blip when I feel like it, which suits me to a tee.
