Friday 3 February 2012: Bibliotheque Francois Mitterand-II
This afternoon we headed to Francois Mitterand library of the Biblioteque nationale de France, for an exhibition on Casanova. The library holds the huge original manuscript of his lengthy "Story of My Life", which it acquired recently; beyond a number of manuscript pages, the show includes a a well-selected array of auxiliary items. It's altogether quite fascinating--Here is a brief newspaper account in English,
I blipped the library recently, but this different view seemed worthwhile. It shows one of the four towers (another is reflected at the lower right). We're looking up the sloping entrance ramp, the top of which is in the previous link--along with further contextual links.
It was very grey this late in the afternoon, and I've (exceptionally) made this black and white--it's visually a bit simpler.
