Sue Foll @ 4000 asa

Today I was visited by my friend Sue on her way to Manchester.
We talked about everything and the price of cheese in Amsterdamn!!!
One of our conversations involved me telling her about a guilty secret I now have of shooting at high speed on digital, something I never do when i'm directing films (producers hate this as it involves more light and money) but now i like doing it for digital stills as the noise levels are so low.

The way I look at it is these high speed pictures are 'anti' pictures something that is a refreshing antidote to the overly lit and so called pristine quality of advertising work that is now so prevalent.
The argument for quality is so hypocritical.
In the past there was a great story about Terry Richardson the renowned fashion photographer who had turned up at the airport for a big high fashion advertising shoot without his cameras. He then proceeded to purchase disposable cameras from an airport shop and shot the campaign with these. Everyone was delighted with the results!
I'm not saying that everyone should shoot this way but surely the image and emotion, mood etc. that whatever the used process creates should be more important than a pre ordained look stolen from an original picture reference.
As far as I'm concerned as long as you know the rules they are there to be broken!
Anyway here is Sue at 4000 asa
