Eurasian Jay

Today I managed to blip a Jay, best known by many ramblers for their alarm call, a rather harsh and rasping sound. If you find it unpleasant, please remember that jays belong to the Corvidae family and are therefore song birds... ;-)

Jays are very quick to spot intruders, give warning and bolt, so it's not easy to take pictures of them. All I usually get is a blurry silhouette against the sky. Today I was a little more lucky... This fellow and I were ogling each other for a few secs before he left. Perhaps he couldn't believe this was happening...

He was perched deep inside the shrubs which made focusing a little tricky, but I'm far too proud of this incident to let the quality of the blip stop me from bragging about it!

Have a lovely time :-)
