Intersection with Moon

Full day planned, although less busy than expected as it turned out. But by then I had already had my early morning run, seeking a decent photo before sunrise. Started taking potential blips as I went through Western Park, and although interested to see the result of one in particular, I was fairly confident that there was camera shake, not enough light and such problems. Correct.

This one, however, was taken to make the focus of the shot the traffic lights at the Ponsonby Road, Great North Road intersection, while including the bright moon. Trying to get a shot of the moon by itself, or as the main focus of the shot, resulted in pictures beset by pixillation and/or blurred edges to the moon, as anticipated. Here the moon, albeit small, is nicely shaped and clear; no multiple images.

I am not sure why the sky shows as so blue. It was well before sunrise (I was home before sunrise), and the sky was dark to my eye. However, I like the blue, so I left it (and the rest of the picture) as it was. Not merely for the sake of my physical safety, I stood on the footpath under the verandah of the shop; this was to add a segment of the verandah across a corner of the image. I confined the objects to one half of the image. The resulting effect of an expanse of unobstructed sky appeals greatly.

Although I planned this shot while still in Western Park, and deliberately orientated it in this way, I think I would be stretching a point in trying to claim this as meeting this weeks challenge on planning. Three days to get something.
