27 Journal Quilts

We had a friend of Steven's (and his wife) over on Saturday, it was the first time they had been to our house. She is a quilter and in fact, made this quilt I blipped earlier with help from her friends. So, in preparation I got out a bunch of my mixed-media fabric work from the classes I teach and my journal quilts. In 2007 I did a series of Journal Quilts on a weekly basis and made 27 of them. Some of them were published in the book 1000 Artists Journals and Sew Somerset magazine!

I actually had not seen a lot of this art I have done for some time because of our move to Florida from CT. A lot of it had been boxed up and I had not seen it for 2 years! Our house is small and I have not unpacked everything . . . well! My long-winded point is it was so much fun to see all of this fabric art again that I left it out long after Helen had left. Today, I just had to take a photo of the journal quilts. There is another photo of them here.

My most favorite part of new eyes looking at them? What Helen said after a little while of looking and touching and reading the Journal entries on the back . .. . "These have a lot of emotion and feeling in them, don't they?"

This marks my 100th photo in a row and 108 in total so far. I told myself when I got to 100 in a row -every day, that I would cut myself some slack and not require myself to add a photo a day. I will definitely still be here -but I may not make it every day, and that is okay!! : ) lenna
