A Blip on the Reidar

By reidar

Cloudy, windy day...

If you walk into Dunfermline town from my house your almost guaranteed to encounter the Public Park at some point in the journey.

I used to live very near it when I was a small child, you had to go through it to get to my Primary School and later in life to go to the train station. They chopped off a big chunk of the park to build a dual carriageway when I was about ten. There's now a skate park where there used to be tennis courts. The two play parks have moved locations twice. And they knocked down the toilet block that used to be very near the train station.

Some things have stayed the same since my childhood but have fallen into disrepair and seem to be ignored by the council. One is the Band Stand I mentioned in an earlier Blip and the other is this water fountain. Long gone is the ability to get a refreshing cold drink form the fountain something I would regularly do after cycling or running around in youthful excitement of my pre-teens. This is a feature of the park like the Band Stand that I will no doubt photograph many more times. There are some lovely little details on both structures and weather permitting I'll get to show you them later.
