Dicotyledons

Cotyledonary leaves first appear
To announce the new true leaves are near.
These latter will show
Which plant is to grow -
Cotyledons are never too clear.

These diotyledons (so called because they are, as so commonly, arranged in pairs) are cosmos seeds that I sowed just over a week ago. They germinated very quickly. I love the sheer optimism of young seedlings, pushing towards the sun for all they're worth. I've never sown cosmos before. Will be fun to see how they go on.
