Arizona Dreamin’

Buttons!

One hundred of them!  It's my 100th blip...in a row.  My first milestone in what I hope to be many more.

I selected this blip with a purpose.  These buttons have a special meaning to me.  They were my Grandma's.  When she died, now 32 years ago, my Grandpa gave me her sewing box.

I was never a sewer, but occasionally used a needle and thread.  I was always tempted to use the big case of buttons in school for my students' counting lessons but always thought better of it.

Yesterday I looked more closely at its contents.  The spools of thread are wooden and are marked fifteen cents.  There's a card of brass snaps for ten cents.  Two old thimbles.  An old-fashioned needle threader.

The case the buttons are in is crumbling from the inside and the outer cloth is now almost see-through so I've now placed it a plastic gallon bag.

My Grandma always kept some of the prettiest buttons.  I'm glad, of all the grandchildren, Grandpa chose me to give the box.

One hundred buttons.  And some wonderful memories of a special person in my life.

I thought I might add my two most memorable blips from my first 100.
This one recalls the horrible day Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head.
This one was my favorite sunrise.  I thought it was rather spectacular.
