Our first full day in our new rented house. We spent most of the day moving our things from the pod just behind the house, where they had been stored since last September.

This blip shows much of our open first floor, looking from the front of the house toward the kitchen. On the table in the foreground is a bouquet of daffodils and a loaf of bread that our next-door neighbor brought us as a housewarming present!

It's great fun to compare the nearly identical views earlier this month, just after we returned from Paris at the beginning of April, and last fall during construction.

Most things in the pod were OK but as the movers got to the many boxes (ca. 150, mainly books) starting in the middle, it was clear that some of them had been affected by moisture--much grief for a while, but at this point I hope that the damage, though very real will be more limited than we had thought at the beginning.
