Moscow Day 1

The journey to Russia went well. Departure from Kastrup and arrival to Moscow as scheduled. My hostess Polina and Olga (who was there to translate) collected me in the airport and took me to my hotel.

I had a couple of hours to rest and have a shower and then Polina and Olga came back for me and off we went to see the city and have dinner.

Moscow is an amazing city. It is so big - they said that the official number of inhabitants is about 11 million, but 20 million is probably more realistic. The city is busy 24 hours a day. Traffic was ridiculous - we got stuck in never ending queues at 1 am on our way back to the hotel.

I have walked on the Red Square, seen where Lenin is buried, seen the only statue of Lenin that was not destroyed and I have seen the eternal flame that was lightend the day World War II ended in Russia and has burned ever since. I have seen so much more and it has been fantastic.

Polina and Olga took me our for a traditional Russian dinner - borscht and a roasted potato dish.

I was back at the hotel at 1 am - ready for bed!

This photo is of a huge statue which stood on the roof of a tall museum building. I am not sure if you can see from the photo how big it was, but it really was amazingly big and so beautiful.
