Ebony Jewelwing

This male Ebony Jewelwing damselfly is part of the dragonfly family. I knew the latter but not the former. They do not hover like most dragonflies but rather flutter and flap about like butterflies. Females, have spots on their wings. Pretty, delicate things and quite common in our garden. They eat a lot of nasty bugs so that's a good thing. Wiki.

Happy 4th of July to my American family, friends, and colleagues!
