TULSI PLANT

Californian summer has started showing its true colors,it is hot like a tandoori clay oven here...

anyways today's blip is about my basil plants,It took a month for the little seedlings to grow up and I am really glad that they sustained even in this hot weather..

There are many varieties of Basil,The one I am growing is HOLY BASIL {Ocimum tenuiflorum} also known as TULSI in INDIA..A living Tulsi plant is kept in many Indian courtyards where it is believed to provide divine protection..

The leaves are delicate but often noted for their strong aroma and has many medicinal properties..

Tulsi's extracts are used in Ayurvedic remedies for common colds, headaches and in herbal cosmetics due to its anti-bacterial activity..

P.S Ayurveda means "the complete knowledge for long life"
Ayurvedic medicine is a system of traditional medicine native to India and a form of alternative medicine.
