Pob's World

They don't make them like that any more

The building I work in is being refurbished over the next 10 years and it's really made me think about my surroundings as I see the new furniture and fittings coming in.
It's an unusual building - it has won architectural awards yet is incredibly ugly externally (in my eyes). However, inside is very different and I've grown to love it over the years.

It does have it's odd bits like garish black and silver marble walls and far too much wooden cladding. But it has some lovely internal features including original Arne Jacobsen chairs and other 1960's gems, some of them hidden away from the public.

Despite being surrounded by design classics and marble, one of my favourite wee things is this sink in the cleaner's cupboard.
It's perfectly designed - it has a pull down shelf to sit a mop bucket on and is mounted on the wall at a low level to enable buckets to be lifted on and off easily without straining.
Ironically, despite the sink being in the cleaner's cupboard, it is and always has been absolutely filthy! (although it's been helped along by Photoshop a wee bit here!)

I just hope this wee sink stands it's ground amongst these new fangled fittings and survives for years to come - I'd be very sad to see it go.
