Day 1

(Still back blipping my 4 day walk, 160km in 4 days, done with blipper pippiline)

Alarm set at 4:20 (which is 3:20 UK time and I feel it!) - although I didnt sleep much and wake up repeatedly whenever someone else wakes up or snores. UGH :(

Quick shower, breakfast, then off to the starting point - 20 minutes later than planned, but that's ok it's the first day after all.

We join the stream of people walking out, across the big bridge (which I didnt take any photos of, silly me!) and into the countryside on the other side.

The blip was taken a little after sunrise, around 8am I suspect. It shows the stream of people and the beautiful day. The feeling is one of epic events, being part of something big and alive, and just plain fun.

We're in shape and walking fast, and the roads are nice - there's loads of people on the street cheering and giving nibbles away. The weather is perfect, sunny but not too hot. Everyone we pass or who passes us is still fresh and happy, so smiles all around.

We get to the danish resting post which is around km 23 before 11, and we finish the walk a little after 3. I suspect we walked a little too fast, and will regret it the next days.

In the evening we met up with friends to watch the fireworks, and there was a lot of them (fireworks, not friends). Only got to bed at midnight or even a bit later, with a wake up call of 4:20 the next day again... I feel I have the mental of a 16 year old (staying up 'late', sleeping on the floor) and the legs of a 60 year old.

40km done, 120 to go. I'm enjoying it so much I forgot to take photos for most of the day.
