horns of wilmington's cow

Oooooh look...

Well they do say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and StevieFish's candid street shots have always got me wanting to give it a proper try. I'd normally stick to cyclists going by, both because they're good to have as stock for my website, and because they tend to go past a bit more quickly. Confidence, StevieFish said, that's the key.

Well I found today that a 200mm lens can also play its part.

These two were stopped outside one of the Princes Street tartan-tat shops, pumping out all manner of bagpipey music to the aural annoyance of (presumably) most going by. I'd gone for a wander (there are 6 of us in the office today and I spent part of the morning watching Wallace and Gromit on iPlayer) to stretch my legs, and plugged myself into the ubiquitous MP3 player.

It's something I wrestle with. I can't stand seeing people walking down the street, locked off into their own little world, paying scant regard to those around them, reaching ridiculous levels when they won't even remove the headphones to get served in a store. But at the same time, the swelled sales crowds, and the inevitable unsolicited music both inside stores, and in this case outside, meant my own little world was a nicer place to be. And at least I take the headphones out to speak to people and remember to interact.
