if you have to ask the price

For some reason I've found myself attempting to pay attention to little bits of people's faces recently when speaking to them, speaking at them, being spoken to or at by them or when otherwise exposed to a face at which I have reason to look; more specifically I've been finding my attention caught on specific features and what they're doing rather than the overall expression. I would normally not concentrate too hard on any particular feature as it would then start to look odd and isolated, similar to the way a single word can seem strange and odd and why-does-a-word-spelled-that-way-mean-that? when dwelt upon at length. I think I have more meetings this week so I'll maybe see what I do during them now that I've noticed myself noticing what I've noticed.
