Site visit

A chance to don my tackety boots, hard hat and hi-vis jacket this afternoon...rode shotgun on a student site visit to Sutherland Building, Northumbria Uni's current major (£6.5m) refurbishment project. I got to bring up the rear, chivvying along the stragglers....I know my place! It's at the 'stripped and ready for action' stage, all the atrocities committed upon it over the years ripped out and long-forgotten victorian goodies uncovered. In it's day it's been a medical school (Durham University), a dental hospital (Newcastle University) and more recently the Law School (Northumbria University) It's now set to become the, very grand, new home of central departments and the uni executive.....our new 'front door' essentially. I even got to visit the vice chancellors office (for the first and probably only time!)
