A Dog's Dinner

Pilrig House

As many of you know doubt know, Pilrig House is just around the corner from Blipcentral, and as I has His Majesty the Dog in the studio today I took the opportunity to have a a Blip walk.

"The House was built in 1638 by Gilbert Kirkwood a local goldsmith for his new wife Margaret Foulis. The house, on Gilbert's death, then passed through several hands before being bought by James Balfour in 1718.

James Balfour's father was a director of the Darien Company and with the collapse of that ill-fated company, along with many other notable Scots, James Balfour the elder was ruined and died aged 55, a broken and disappointed man.

Fortunately, in 1707, his son was compensated for his father's losses by the Government of the day."

Now to bring us bang up to date, here's todays Scotsman - nothing changes!
