The magic twig

Once upon a time many years ago there was a young girl who went for a walk with her mummy, daddy and sister. While walking along the path the young girl found a twig with an interesting fluffy thing on it (her mummy later told her this was a catkin)! The young girl liked it so much that she insisted on carrying it for the rest of the walk and then took it home.

At home the young girl asked her mummy if she could put this twig in a jam jar to keep it alive. Her mummy humoured her and filled an old jam jar with water, put the twig inside and left it on the kitchen windowsill.

A few weeks went by and much to the young girls delight and her mummy's surprise the twig continued to flourish and even sprouted roots! A few more weeks went by and this fluffy twig began to get a bit too big for the jam jar so the young girl asked her mummy if she could plant it in the garden. Again humouring the young girl, the twig was planted in the garden tied onto a cane to help support it and protect it from the weather. Much to this young girls delight over the coming months the twig got bigger and bigger and stronger and stronger!

Now 27 years later this twig is no longer a twig but this tree you see pictured above which is still going strong in foreveryoungs parent's garden!
