Istanbul - Day 1

Bags packed again for myself and Mrs DP, this time off to Istanbul for a mini-break.

Early start at Gatwick (up at the hideous hour of 3.30am...), but roads quiet and before we knew it we were boarding our Sleasyjet flight to Turkey. First time there, didn't really know what to expect, but very excited.

A man with a van met us and whisked us to our hotel in Sultanahmet, the old town of Istanbul. Beautiful lodgings in an old Ottoman mansion. Washed away the flight and were soon hitting the streets, stopping for a much needed cold beer in a backpackers bar (sat outside! sunny!), and then taking in the Blue Mosque - amazing.

Back to the hotel to take in the sunset - it had this view of the Blue Mosque. Stunning. Dinner in a traditional Turkish restaurant and then much needed rest.

First impressions of Istanbul were very good.
