Saturday 26 December 2009: To the lighthouse?

Or, watching and waiting.... This modern statue of a woman looking out to sea represents to me the women who wait and worry while the men of the fishing port of Le Grau d'Agde are at sea. The boats were all in port today, either because the fishermen were still enjoying the holiday or maybe because the weather wasn't very good. The sea was grey and the wind was cold.

  3. I have to say if I was waiting for my fisherman to come home, I'd probably pull on a coat for the long wait. Lovely atmospheric shot.

  5. I love the angle on this one too. It really does make you think about the men that work out at sea too.

  7. Beautiful composition and so poignant - those who wait for fishermen to return safely must worry most of their lives.

  8. Wonderful shot. Great composition and angle. The bad weather gives the right atmosphere.

  9. If the men knew their women waited for them like that you would think they would all come home sooner! Great picture!

  10. Lovely. Somehow I can't picture the real wives having the time to disrobe and lie around the shoreline waiting, but there you go...
