Gumboots and carnations

That kind of day today.

So hot that the chairs were practically melting in my classroom. The kids looked like wilted lettuce leaves and the teachers didn't fare much better.

Trying to motivate them was no mean feat.

Several teachers abandoned their classrooms in favour of shady nooks around the school (usually a no-no).

We ploughed on, trying to fill those weary minds with essential information, digging deep and discovering new depths of determination.

Then home to a hot and tired pooch (who apparently is barking when I leave him at home - not sure what the next step is for bark control).

Made a salad and garlic bread while B tried to fix my broadband (to no avail) and his brother, G, fixed the leaky tap in my laundry.

A pleasant tea with good friends who didn't care if I was a bit floppy.

Hard to sleep but got there eventually.

More warm weather tomorrow.

Can't wait.
