First day in Aktobe, and first impressions are that there is a lot less money here than in Almaty. There are a LOT of ladas, and this is kind of what I was expecting when I came over here.

There is also a lot of snow in the area, and it has been warming up. Another consequence of this is the flooding. Tonight I counted three cars stranded, with the drivers standing on the edge of the engine bay, looking in trying to fix their broken cars! We almost splashed them with our Land Cruiser as we sailed on by :-p
