White Storks Nesting

White storks (Ciconia ciconia) are widely found in Europe and winter mainly in Africa. It's nesting time here in the Camargue (in southern France), and this pair is almost certainly tending to its eggs; I've added a blip of one of the two flying near the nest (which is more aesthetic than many!).

Since arriving on Saturday, our tours around the area near our gîte in Gageron have turned up most of the usual suspects, including grey herons little egrets, great egrets, yellow-legged and black-headed gulls, flamingos, white swans, and various smaller passerines (such as great tits). More unusual were a small group of curlews and a single purple heron (which must have recently arrived from Africa),
