Morningside Station

This was a busy station on the South Suburban Circle in Edinburgh. Passenger traffic stopped on 10 September 1962.

The line remains open, and occasionally used by diverted passenger trains. But the main usage is for freight, including the transport of radioactive waste material from Torness Power Station on the Forth to Sellafield for reprocessing.

You can view a picture of the station in 1956 in its busy days. Morningside Station - 1956
