Li and Tim Cooking

Li Li, who graduated on Sunday from Mt. Holyoke College, came over with her boy friend Tim this afternoon to cook us a Chinese meal. They brought all the essential ingredients; Marylee helped with chopping some of them, and we sat down to eat in about two hours--it was delicious.

The menu:
--Green bean/pork rib soup with pea tops
--Sliced pork with red peppers, garlic sprouts, ginger, onions
--Stir-fried lotus root
--White rice
--Glutinous rice balls in fermented rice wine (dessert).

For more on Li see here. Tim's family, like Li, is originally from Chengdu in China, but he grew up in upstate New York. They met in Chengdu when they were both back for a summer. Tim also recently graduated, from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.
