At the beach with Flick

Like the total idiot I am, I managed to leave the memory stick full of the weekend's photos up in Manchester (duh). So Flick and I will be starting to upload from Monday.

Monday was a good day. we wanted to get the landscape lens we had promised ourselves, and fortunately, a large independent camera-shop in manchester just happened to have one in stock at the right price. Having been used to middle and budget-priced lenses, this professional lens was an absolute revelation. The build-quality was fantastic - even the lens-hood was awesome. The USM autofocus thingy was virtually silent and instant, and the quality of the image just does not compare with our other lenses.

So off we went, happily, to the beach. It was a beautiful day, bright sunshine, but the wind! It was like a hurricane. having arrived at Southport we started walking towards the surf, but at the same time the tide was going out, so after 20 minutes, we were stilll about 2 miles away. And I'm sure when we started, it was only a mile away. We took a few pics and de-camped to Blackpool.

To cut a long story short, we spent a wonderful hour or so just before sunset just trying to stand up in the wind, let alone keep the cameras still. Flick also got her other wish of being able to paddle in the fast approaching sea. The benefit of this rather chilly wind was that we virtually had the beach to ourselves. When I took this, the only other person on the beach was Flick.
