Reflections in puddles

Saturday
We awoke in the very early hours to the sound of storms passing through, but by the time we were up and had breakfast (blueberry pancakes), it was blue sky and sunshine again, and the promise of another very hot and humid day. I always used to shy away from cycling on hot days like this, but I've come to realize it's really not bad - as you can see the trail is very shaded, and that together with the movement of air as you pass through it makes it quite tolerable. The trail is quite long - about 70 miles in length, and some parts are more shaded than others, so we (Roger, Laura and I) picked our section accordingly, and got out in the morning before it had really heated up. Most of the trail had dried up pretty well, though as the picture shows, there were large puddles left in a few places. We came back home for a quick, late lunch, then headed to the pool for a cool down before going to see the IMAX movie Under the sea at Cincinnati Museum Center. It was really good - I never cease to be amazed by the vast variety of creatures on our planet. The tragedy is, however, that so much is endangered by increasing water temperatures. After the movie we ate out at our favorite Thai restaurant - celebrating Fathers Day early, as tomorrow we will be driving up to Detroit to take Laura to her mission work with Central Detroit Christian.
