Balloon Glow

Visited my buddy Phil at The Michigan Challenge Balloonfest in Howell, Michigan, Saturday Night. They always do a balloon glow Saturday night. Phil is in the closest balloon to camera firing the burner. To make the balloon glow, pilots will usually operate the liquid valve known as the whisper burner (or sometimes called the cow burner as it is designed to make a different sound when operating so as not to startle livestock) on the burner creating a spectacular bright orange flame instead of the main valve which creates the more typical (and efficient) blue flame.

Extra Stuff: To the left, taking a picture is a side profile of Blipper Eagle. He posted a similar shot of the event with me in it.

The balloon placement on the field was not good from where I was shooting so this is a 2 shot composite. This is how my eye wants you to see it...
