Flowing

Difficult, difficult choice of shot from the Edinburgh Nocturne tonight - mostly from the folding bike race, but not all... There was Green Effort (because I like the expression); in Birdy Effort (birdy being the bike brand) I liked the 'pop' created by the panning; Elite Descent captured something of the speed of the top riders; and then there was just a (in my mind) lovely shot of the riders tackling the Victoria Street cobbles, showing it's not all fast close-ups.

The Edinburgh Nocturne, in its second year, and bizarrely with lower crowds, though more competitors... I took part in the fun folding bike race last year (with a Le Mans style running start to folded up bikes, and 'business' attire to be worn), and have to admit there were moments I wished I'd done the same this year. But if they come back in 2011 I'll be there. After starting at 6 with a couple of support races (at which time we were in Empire's Cafe...) there was the folding race at 8, then a team relay event, then the elite race, with those riders making the Victoria Street slope look like the flat (for the most part, some cracked...) for umpteen laps over a little more than an hour.

Full day actually. Farmers Market; Earthy Foods; St Abbs cliffs (and a Herring Gull chick); bit of gardening and chicken maintenance; dinner out; nocturne. I think that calls for a cup of tea and slice of bread with some lemon curd (which if you saw the blip from a couple of days ago, I can report it worked perfectly and tastes superb... Even if I do say so myself).
