Ilosaarirock, day three

There were a few bands I was looking forward to on Sunday but none of the others came close to the last band of the day, but more on that below. I saw the following bands:

Insomnium: This was the first time I've seen Insomnium even though they originate from Joensuu and have played there numerous gigs. The gig was very good.

Jenni Vartiainen: We didn't really pay much attention to the gig, so I don't know if I can say I really saw her live...

Rytmihäiriö: They performed at the smallest stage. It must have been hot playing the kind of music they do, with the sun scorching straight at them.

Amorphis: A great Finnish band. I had some good company again so I didn't SEE the whole performance, but they did sound excellent.

Faith No More - the most important band of my life as a music fan. The best gig I've ever seen. The band originally disbanded in 1998, around the time that I got into their music, so I never saw them live before. They did play a couple of gigs in Finland last summer, but this is the first time I saw them live. To say I was excited about the gig would be a massive understatement. They did not dissappoint. The band had requested for a longer gig, so the played over 90 minutes, which I sure didn't mind. Frontman Mike Patton is easily the most exciting performer I have ever witnessed. During this gig he did some crowd surfing (which is forbidden in Ilosaarirock, by the way) and at one point decided to take one of the stage cameras and go to film the audience. It was just unforgettable. Ilosaarirock was the last performance during the tour. There are currently no other gigs announced, at least on their website. This might just have been their last gig. I bought a tour t-shirt and a baseball cap to commemorate the gig.

After the gig went to a bar yet again - and after meeting some other friends (Monday's blip) ended up in the same bar as the nights before...

The shot is from the Faith No More performance. I cropped out guitarist Jon Hudson beacuse he didn't fit in the picture entirely.
