The gift of wine

Yet another experiment with a narrow depth of field using a wide aperture. The closer I am to the subject, the smaller the focal plane. This was quite a hard shot because I was lying on the floor (sober) looking up at the bottle. I couldn't stay still enough to keep the name of the wine in the focal plane. This was as close as I could get. I really should have used a tripod.

I have also been studying ASG's light and shadow images and thought I could steal a bit of his thunder with one of my own. I played around with various ways of converting to black and white to get the right level of tone between the shadows and the highlights. This wine won't be around for very long so it was a good time to photograph it today.

Mondays. They are full of promise for the rest of the week. If you don't start as you mean to go on though then you may as well stay in bed. My shift only starts a 3pm and I always feel like I am wasting my day if I sit around watching the TV. With that in mind, I went to the bank this morning to drop off some papers and to set a date for the home loan settlement. I also went to the old bank to get a settlement figure. The service at the old place was sullen and unhelpful and reminded me why we are changing banks. Anyway, I got it all done which sets me up well for the rest of the week. Tomorrow I might take my trailer full of rubbish to the tip and then use the trailer to take my bike to be fixed. Or I could just take my bike to the tip too. That would fix it properly.

Reading this makes my routine sound a bit boring actually...
