Budapest night life

We arrived in Budapest around 7.15 pm and didn't waste much time setting out to sample the local bar/café culture with our friends who live there. We fitted in a quick bite to eat along the way, but the staple diet until the early hours turned out to be too much alcohol.

I took this shot in the first bar we went to, and was surprised when David, one of our mates, told me I shouldn't have done it because people in Budapest are not at all keen on having their photographs taken without explicit permission. (Later, watching local TV, we were surprised to see this demonstrated often, with many faces in news reports being pixelated to avoid recognition.) Still I couldn't resist this as today's blip because it's so typical of the atmosphere and interior décor we saw in so many bars and cafés during our stay.

I just hope the two girls in the foreground don't catch this some time and track me down to get me to remove it.

By the way, the great plan to reach a climax today of my Looking Down series did not materialise, due to the time of our flight and the cloudy conditions during most of it. This and this are poor substitutes for what I'd intended. Sorry.
