Who invited you?

Because it's a warm, cloudy night, it ought to be good for moth trapping tonight. So I set everything up and went outside to check it was all working (here's a photo of the trap). There were a few moths around, but also this beastie, which I think might be a Speckled Bush Cricket (tell me if I'm wrong).

Moths are well-known for being attracted to lights. But when moth trapping we've also caught wasps, a Hornet (there's one out there now), assorted beetles, tons of craneflies and a Water Boatman which really belonged back in the pond.

Apparently some people end up finding birds like Great Tits or Blue Tits in their moth traps in the morning, after the birds spot an easy meal. Hasn't happened here yet, but...
