Owl's dinner

No, I haven't been on a killing spree. These are the contents of a Tawny Owl pellet. Not a poo, a pellet - the indigestible things that are leftover when the owl's stomach acid has done its best. It emerges from the owl's beak.

At the top are lots of leg bones from voles and mice. Then we have some jaws and teeth, some random I-don't-know-what, and a tiny beak from something like a Blue Tit. Next, some tiny vertebrae.

And on the bottom row, there are beetle bits! Pieces of wing case, other bits of armouring and some legs! Yes, Tawny Owls eat beetles as well as birds and mammals. (They'll also grab worms too, on a wet night)

PS All these bits come bound up in a parcel of fur, but I dismantled the pellet to find the interesting morsels.
