Dragon Fruit

The neighbors next door have staked a Pitaya Cactus on chain-link fence support along the common brick wall. The flowers bloom nocturnally, fading when the sun (and heat) make them wilt.
Some weeks later the Dragon fruit will grow from the spent bloom and when it is big, red and ripe, they will harvest it. When peeled the outer flesh is blood red and the inside is white studded with little black seeds.
It is very tasty!
