Tree People at Work!

Today we had tree people around our condominium all day, cutting, trimming, and grinding up the results--constant horrific noise. The climactic event began early in the afternoon, as they went to work on the tall, thin tree just to the left of the house (all the other ones they cut were very short). At this point they are mostly done with the branches, leaving mainly the trunk, which came down in the next hour. The red machine is the one that chews up the branches.

In the condominium we occupy the top two floors. We have accepted a buy-out offer from the owners of the unit below us, so that they can adapt the entire condominium (including the third unit in the carriage house out of sight to the right) to accommodate their growing family. However, their inspections have apparently found that the front part of the main house is unstable (when the entire house was renovated eight years ago the rear part was in fact torn down and rebuilt).

So the need for drastic work on the front part means that the tree on the left needed to be sacrificed--and it was apparently already dying. (The other trees cut by the tree people were very small--I would have done less, but I was not in control.)

All this led to many potential blips today (especially closer details), but this seemed the best overall shot.

We had good news today regarding our move (to a temporary apartment): Problems with the buyers' lawyers have postponed the legal closing until next week. Whew!

I've BACKBLIPPED an image for yesterday.
