The Importance of Being Punk

Out and about today, had to get up early for toddlers swimming lesson, which was good as she did an excellent bomb.

After swimming we had to go to the garage as our car had been recalled because apparently there was a chance that the handbrake could come on whilst driving. This is the problem with computerising everything I suppose.

It did feel like a bit of a roose though as they tried to get me to sign up for all kinds of things whilst we were there so maybe it was a clever marketing scam. Anyway they managed to do it and clean the motor all very quickly, but this may have been due to the fact that toddler and I started playing in all the new cars in the showroom.

Later on in the afternoon we went out on a cake mission, as is becoming a weekend ritual, then had a look round some of the local shops. My wife and the children went I another shop whilst I went in the record shop.

When I was younger I used to spend a lot of time in record shops and I still find it very therapeutic spending hours flicking through records. These days I dont get to do it unless I am very lucky and today was not one of those days as I only had time for a little look before having to head home.

This man came in whilst I was there and caught my attention when he asked if there was a punk rocker section. Now I was never a punk, but I am fully aware that if it was not for punk most of the music I listened to through my life would not have happened so it is very important.

Anyway I was just about to leave when I thought I should ask if I could take a picture whilst he looked through records. I have only asked a stranger once before to take their picture so I still find it a bit daunting, so was really pleased he was happy to let me. The shop were ok with it to so I quickly took a few before legging it to catch up with the family.

I told him about my blip journal, but realised that I had left my new moo cards at home. Lluckily I had my last train ticket that I had put a hand written sticker on it, with the web address on, in my jeans pocket, so was pleased to be able to give him the link.

Stupidly I forgot to ask his name, which was also a bit rude of me. Hopefully he will see this so, thank you for happily letting my snap you and I hope you got some good vinyl.

I managed to get some other good shots of his hands looking through the records that I will put up on flickr in a couple of weeks and link to here but, can't yet as have some other photos on it for another website that are positioned in preparation.
