First Blip on M!

Well, I feel I got a lot out of the first session of my photography course this evening. The tutor and all of the other students seem very pleasant, and immediately, I started to learn stuff about my own camera and the various settings.

I have always shot in Av, or aperture mode to you non-Canon folk, as that's the setting I felt I knew most about. Tonight, after only a few minutes instruction, I was shooting in Manual and as I practiced, I felt I was beginning to understand the other components in making the best image.

This, therefore, is my first Blip in M! No real story with this one; I just really like the lines and the lights and shadows. These pillars are in a fairly new apartment complex in the Cathedral Quarter in Belfast. I like the way they have been lighted by the designer/architect.

I met a good friend for lunch today and before, and afterwards, I spent a few hours snapping things around Belfast while waiting for my course to start. I can see a real difference already in the images I shot before and during the class. It already, after one session, feels like money well spent.

And... I've homework to do!
