The Lozarithm Lens

Lioness

Had a great day yesterday at the Cotswold Wildlife Park near Burford. I was taken there as a belated birthday treat, and unlike the previous time, when my 35mm camera let me down with a flat battery, I came away with a couple of hundred of pictures: lemurs, otters, wolves - all my favourite animals - though their leopards remained as elusive as on the previous occasion, leaving something to aspire to see at the next visit.

After a preliminary look through all the pictures, I have chosen this one of an Asiatic lioness. These lions are now found only in a small area in the Gir Forest and are highly endangered. I find it unthinkable that future generations may be unable to experience seeing these beautiful and dignified big cats, and feel privileged to have seen some.

I have begun posting up a set on Flickr of the day's shoot.
