RW's Daily Exposures

Last of the Cosmos

Yes, I promise, this is the last of the Cosmo images. I took out a bunch today as we are getting ready for fall. There's still some stragglers left, but they will soon wilt and be cut back for next year.

I revisited the Magnolia tree again today with my Lens Baby setup, but I didn't get anything that I really liked. So, I set up my "BIG" lens (500 f4 - weighs 900 lbs easily...), put it on a tripod and waited for my frequent non-migratory hummingbird to come by. While I was waiting, I caught this photo of one of the Cosmos. This lens is so sharp and the Bokeh is as rich as cream. To me this looks like a studio shot. It's not. It was shot off my front porch with the big lens and it's major league focus and Bokeh. This lens is vintage early 80s with manual focus, and programmed exposure through internal menu settings on my Nikon D300. One of the things I like best about these newer cameras is they allow the user to setup a menu selection for the older lenses.

You be the judge - is this a nice photo?

Let me have it!

Have a great weekend everyone - I sure enjoy sharing and visiting on this site.

Ralph

PS - Other than a slight crop, this is straight out of the camera.
