  2. how do you know this ??????
yesterday Sinterklaas (T Niclas) arrived in the netherlands....and yes...every night children (and adults) will make their shoe and food for the horse and the helpers from Sinterklaas....end every morning the children are sooo exenting when they have a little present (most of the time sweet)
It is a great happening......at December 5th we have THE evening with all kind of presents....only for the children who were good this year....the bad/naughty children are going in a bag to Spain....and never ever see their family again......;-)

  4. YES, a nice Dutch tradition:Sinterklaas!
The carrots are for Sinterklaas' white horse, you have to do that in your shoe and put the shoe at the frontdoor.
    The following morning.....gifts from Sinterklaas!!!!!

We have been to the parade today!!! Lovely blip!

  6. Thanks all. I'm semi Dutch export. I was one when my parents moved from Korea to the Netherlands. So I grew up there. My DH is 100% Dutch, well sort of, apparently he has a great great great great great grand mother who was Scottish. Speaking of Scottish, my oldest two were born in Scotland. They were singing as loud as they could in front of the fireplace yesterday and my DD came to me at 3am, saying she went downstairs to have a look, but the lights weren't working.
