Stranded...

Travelling this week hasn't been too bad...yes it's taken twice the time...yes it's meant trudging through the snow rather than zipping along on the bike but on the whole it's been OK...tonight though the wheels came off the wagon...or the train coach if you like.

Arrived at Waverley and the board was just full of delayed and cancelled trains...it wasn't good. Waited there for about an hour and a half and trains kept disappearing from the board and then re-appearing. You know there's something up when Scotrail start offering complementary tea's and coffee's on the forecourt. It became apparent that nothing was moving.

After hanging around for about and hour and a half a fellow commuter and yogi approached me and said that a group of them were going to get a taxi back to Stirling/Bridge of Allan/Dunblane and did I want to join them...I decided to take that option.

The taxi had to get from Stirling so we needed somewhere to wait...so we ended up in The Dome:-) Had a couple of glasses of wine while we were waiting and some sandwiches. It was quite pleasant. The Christmas tree in the Dome is fantastic...being held up at the front of the shot is the useless rail ticket!

Taxi arrived about 20hr30 and proceeded to take us home...it was an extremely cold night -11 at some points on the road. Eventually made it into the house at 09hr30...it was a long day and I do ask myself why can't the trains run in the cold?
