Sgwarnog: In the Field

17:07 at the Festive Lights

The Bradford Lights are a rolling phenomenon. While there is a spectacular Christmas switch-on, we are a multi-cultural, multi-faith city, so we've had festive lights for Eid and Deepavali through the Autumn. Sometimes the lights are re-purposed from one festival to the next.

There is a nice cluster of lights in Centenary Square, with trees dressed in subtle blue fairy lights alongside some more formal patterns. The square is a bit of a mess at the moment as it gets transformed into the new City Park, but after dark, as I'm walking to my bus home, the lights come into their own and draw the eye away from the diggers and trenches.

I'm not really very good at night photography, but I like trying to capture the interplay of different light sources, even though they'll always end up being a bit fuzzy. This one is perhaps a bit too busy, with street lights, Christmas lights, and the illuminated clock of our magnificent City Hall, but it's the best I have for today.
