A Bad Day for Spectacles

Look at my glasses!

I went into town today and one of my jobs was to pop into Specsavers Colchester to get them to adjust my glasses. This is what the young lad who saw me did. He broke them within 2 minutes of touching them.

Now, as retail customer service goes Specsavers were very very bad. The owner of the franchise of Specsavers kindly offered me 50% off a new pair of specs as 'compensation'. This is also the same deal they offer brand new customers who haven't had their glasses broken by a member of Specsavers staff.

Those glasses cost me over £300 and Specsavers broke them and their solution is for me to spend some more money with them with a 'compensation' deal the same as the advertised deal on the TV. Wow, they must be a clever money grabbing lot.

So the moral of the story is if Specsavers break your glasses, don't expect them to repair or replace, expect them to sell you another pair.

I have been a Specsavers Colchester customer since the early 90's. I've paid a monthly direct debit for contact lenses to them for nearly 20 years and purchased a number of pairs of fairly expensive glasses from them.

It's a shame, they've changed so much and in such a bad way.

However, they are not the only Optician in town and I'm sure they can poke their 50% off a new pair up their neither regions whilst I cancel the direct debits and spend the whole 100% with an Optician who actually wants me as a happy customer.
