The Black Cuillins

After a relaxed first night we had a long lie. Dave, Katie, Roz and I decided to go out for a walk and Dave and Katie took us up to a bit of beach near the old Kilbride Cemetary. We went to see this for two reasons, firstly there was a nice beach walk along to Dun Ringill, a nice old Dun which had been inhabited by the MacKinnons of Elgol as late as the fifteenth century, Secondly the car park was right next to the biggest house on the peninsula which is apparently owned, along with the bulk of the peninsula itself by Iain Anderson of Jethro Tull fame. Trainspotters out there will know that Jethro Tull had an album called Dun Ringill.

It was a great walk and a beautiful day for the end of December. I got some cracking photos, but none of them were better than this one of the Cuillins which I got from the beach right outside the cottage where we were ataying.

The others showed up at about half past six Craig, his girlfriend Rachel and his flatmate Dav showed up and we set about building a large fire on the beach to spend the bells round. It was a great night although we all ended up a bit the worse for wear with Three bottles of whisky, the best part of a bottle of vodka, a bottle of champagne, a couple of bottles of wine and several beers being consumed over the course of the night. Still it's only once a year.
